Stating that breast aesthetics can be performed at any age from 18 onwards, Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken said that breast aesthetic surgeries, planned individually for each patient, increase women’s self-confidence. Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken provided information about breast augmentation, reduction, and lift surgeries.
Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated that the patient group that prefers breast augmentation surgery is young patients, saying, “The patient comes to the doctor complaining about their breasts being too small. Before this surgery, the patient is examined in detail. The patient’s expectations are listened to. The aim here is to create a natural-looking breast that suits the patient’s expectations and body structure. In this sense, the size of the implant to be used may vary accordingly.”
“Some women have breasts that are larger than their body size,” says Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken. “This can lead to various complaints in women, such as back and neck pain, hunching in posture, and itching due to excessive sweating. In such cases, breast reduction surgery is performed to achieve a reduction appropriate to the patient’s body. However, if the patient is overweight and plans to lose weight, it is necessary to wait until this process is completed. Because sagging of the breasts can occur with weight loss. On the other hand, for women planning pregnancy, it is necessary to wait until the childbirth and breastfeeding process is completed. Because sagging of the breasts can also occur after the breastfeeding period.”
Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated that breast lift surgeries can actually be performed in combination with augmentation and reduction surgeries, saying, “Some of our patients have small and sagging breasts, while others have large and sagging breasts. In such cases, both lift and augmentation or reduction surgeries can be combined.”
Stating that breast aesthetic surgeries typically last about an hour and a half, Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken provided the following information regarding points patients should pay attention to during the recovery process: “Patients usually experience less pain starting from the first week after breast aesthetic surgery. We recommend that our patients wear a corset for about 3 months after the operation. We advise them to avoid arm and hand movements and heavy lifting for the first 2-3 weeks. Those who work at a desk can return to work after the first week. Also, patients should avoid lying face down for about 2 months. Light-paced walks can be done after 2-3 weeks, but patients should definitely consult their doctor for other sports.”
