Stating that mesotherapy can restore a younger and more dynamic appearance to the skin in cases where it loses its elasticity and vitality due to environmental and genetic factors, Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken provided information about skin mesotherapy

Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated that mesotherapy is a skin care method that meets the skin’s basic needs and helps it achieve a healthy appearance, saying, “Mesotherapy is performed via injection and contains hyaluronic acid and amino acids that make up collagen. With age, collagen production in the skin decreases, and various factors (diseases, medication use, pregnancy, sun exposure) can accelerate this process. Mesotherapy aims to restore these depleted components to the skin.”

Can be done at any age.

Stating that mesotherapy is a procedure that can be performed at any age, Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken said, “Everyone can have mesotherapy regularly from the age of 20 to 30, with at least 1-2 sessions per year. To see the main effect, we recommend at least 3 sessions initially, spaced one month apart. The number of sessions may vary from person to person. However, we recommend having it done regularly every 4 or 6 months for life. The main goal of mesotherapy is to make the skin firmer and more vibrant, thus preventing skin aging. Therefore, having mesotherapy before the skin starts to wrinkle and age completely will keep the skin more moisturized and radiant, thus delaying aging.”

Procedure Process

Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated that a numbing cream is applied for about 20 minutes before the procedure to ensure the patient has a comfortable mesotherapy experience. He added, “The mesotherapy procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes. Just as we do with the skin, we can also perform mesotherapy on the décolleté and neck area for patients who wish and need it, giving them a younger and more dynamic appearance.”

Post-Procedure Care

Emphasizing the importance of sun protection after the procedure, Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated, “We recommend that patients use sunscreen after the procedure to protect themselves from the sun’s rays. Patients should frequently moisturize their faces with moisturizing creams after the procedure. If they wish, they can also apply a moisturizing face mask for about an hour. Since mesotherapy is a procedure where the solution is injected into the skin, not under the skin, redness in the treated area is quite natural and disappears on its own the next day.”
