Why do the labia minora sag and wrinkle in the genital area? The inner and outer labia most often sag due to a deficiency in collagen tissue. Besides this, familial factors, rapid weight gain or loss, early and frequent sexual intercourse or masturbation, chronic elongations, wearing tight clothing, certain types of diseases, and lymphatic circulation disorders can all cause sagging of the labia minora in the genital area.

Can labia minora or labia minora sagging surgeries be performed on virgins? Yes, they can, because the hymen, which we call the virginity membrane, is located inside the vagina. Since these surgeries involve a procedure on the external area, there will be no problems.

How long after childbirth should vaginal tightening surgery be performed? In these surgeries, we aim to eliminate the problem that caused the issue. For genital aesthetic surgeries, it is necessary to wait until the congenital process is complete and hormonal balance has returned to normal.

Can a clitoris that appears large from the outside be corrected with surgery? Yes, it can. Just like in labiaplasty surgery, sagging in the clitoris can be easily corrected under local anesthesia. This procedure is usually performed in conjunction with labiaplasty surgery. Also, just as we can reduce the size of the labia minora by removing excess and sagging tissue in labia minora surgery, we can also reduce the size of problems in the labia majora. Since sagging of the labia majora is generally caused by a loss of volume in this area, sometimes sagging labia majora can be corrected by adding volume with filler injections.

Which anesthesia technique is used for genital aesthetic surgeries? Genital aesthetic surgeries can be performed under local anesthesia. Specifically, clitoroplasty (clitoris reduction), labiaplasty (inner and outer labia reduction), or filler injections to the outer labia can be performed locally. However, vaginal tightening surgery, because it involves working in a slightly smaller area and takes a little longer, is performed under general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort.

What precautions should be taken after genital aesthetic surgery? The genital area is very closely related to the urinary tract. Therefore, post-operative cleanliness of this area is our most important priority. Patients should use the antibiotics prescribed after surgery regularly. It is important to thoroughly clean the area after each toilet use and then apply antibacterial sprays. Care should be taken to prevent this area from remaining excessively moist. After using antibacterial spray, the area should be thoroughly dried and protected with a soft cotton pad or underwear. Pads and underwear, which are used to absorb discharge and help keep the area dry, should be changed frequently throughout the day.

When can sexual activity be resumed after surgery? We generally prohibit sexual intercourse for at least one month, especially after vaginal tightening surgery. This period may be slightly shorter for laparoplasty surgeries, but it’s best to wait at least twenty days.
