Stating that demand for aesthetic procedures increases even more after the end of the summer season, Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken provided information about the role and importance of the season in aesthetic surgeries.

Expressing that there is an increase in demand for aesthetic surgery with the end of the summer months, Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken said, “Autumn is one of the most suitable periods for the post-operative recovery process. Especially due to the need to avoid the sun and the contribution of cold weather to healing, the demand for surgery increases even more during this period.”

Preferred Surgeries

Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated that rhinoplasty (nose surgery), breast surgery, and tummy tuck procedures are among the most requested aesthetic surgeries after summer, and explained the reason for this preference: “During the summer months, factors such as sunlight, hot weather, and the sea can negatively affect post-operative healing. Therefore, patients prefer the autumn months, when summer ends and temperatures are milder, over the summer season.”

Among the surgeries frequently preferred in the autumn season are facelift, eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, tummy tuck, breast surgery, and liposuction. Both patients and doctors prefer autumn for aesthetic procedures on the face because the skin is less affected by the sun, making it an ideal time for these procedures. This is also true for surgeries that require the use of a corset, in addition to facial surgeries. Late summer is a suitable time for liposuction and tummy tuck surgery because wearing tight clothing is necessary during the recovery process, which can be uncomfortable in the summer,” he said.

Advantages of Having Surgery in Autumn

While aesthetic procedures can be performed in any season, Op. Dr. Süleyman Köken stated that the ideal time for some operations is late summer. “Patients are exposed to less sun during this period, so the post-operative period is more comfortable and the surgical scars are less noticeable. In addition, since shorter clothes are preferred in summer, surgeries requiring the use of a corset during the recovery period are more frequently preferred in autumn and winter months rather than summer, because patients can prevent the corset from being visible from the outside by wearing longer clothes,” he said.
